The event showcases (mostly) locally-based artists representing various comic book genres while pressing forth the convention’s initiative of sharing professional experiences, techniques, and industry insights through panel discussions and workshops with the next wave of upcoming talent .

The experience was comfortable and visually regenerative as wave after wave of celebration made its way through of the streets of NYC’s Chinatown. This is an annual celebration that should experienced by every New Yorker, at least once.

Celebrating the Release of Oscar López Rivera

35 Mujeres NYC x Oscar Victory Rally @ Times Square Plaza

(January 29, 2017) The 35 Mujeres NYC x Oscar movement returned to Times Square Plaza to celebrate the upcoming release of Puerto Rican political prisoner Oscar López Rivera. Less than two weeks ago, in one of his final acts before departing the White House, U.S. President Barack Obama commuted Rivera’s sentence and scheduled a release date of May 17, 2017.

Schomburg Center's 5th Annual Black Comic Book Festival

(January 14, 2017) For the first time, the Schomburg Center’s Black Comic Book Festival presented two full days of programming celebrating the empowering tradition of black independent comic and cartoon artists, writers and publishers. Over 50 exhibitors took part in the 5th annual event, bringing with them all the magic and colors of the art.

2nd Annual Feria de Artesanías

Artesano Luis Cordero Santoni (PRIDA co-founder) @ 2nd Annual Feria de Artesanías

(December 3, 2016) The 2nd Annual Feria de Artesanías helped to promote public support of local businesses and artisans during the holiday buying season. The fair which is sponsored by the Hispanic Federation was held in the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in El Barrio. Artisans and vendors representing various Latino countries offered up an assortment of handmade arts & crafts, as well as traditional edibles and libations. Members of PRIDA were also presente!
