(May 24, 2017) A memorial mural graces a wall by a corner at Morrison & Westchester Avenues. It honors Bronx native Yadira Arroyo — the NYFD EMT killed in the line of duty on March 16, 2017.
(April 20-22, 2017) Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture presented what could only be described as an outstanding tribute to Latin Music legend Ernesto Antonio “Tito” Puente. The 3-day event titled Tito Puente Retrospective: 50 Years of ‘El Rey’ worked the historic landscape of his journey, planted fresh seeds in the here and now, and celebrated another bounty of young musicians inspired by the priceless contributions of Puente’s genius and mastery.

(April 1, 2017) The MoCCA Arts Fest returned to the Metropolitan West and the Ink 48 Hotel, for their annual event. Regarded as Manhattan’s largest independent comics, cartoon and animation festival, the event brings together all levels of players and doers en masse.

(March 25, 2017) The 3rd Annual Women in Comics Con (WinC Con) returned to the Bronx Library Center with a few new faces and a steadfast core. The event showcases (mostly) locally-based artists representing various comic book genres while pressing forth the convention’s initiative of sharing professional experiences, techniques, and industry insights through panel discussions and workshops with the next wave of upcoming talent .
(March 2, 2017) The Defend Puerto Rico exhibition ‘CITI100’ opened at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center in Loisaida, NYC. Works by 100 Puerto Rican/Nuyorican artists were presented in this multimedia statement marking the 100th Anniversary of the Jones-Shafroth Act.
(February 25, 2017) BG183 is blowing up WALLWORKS New York with his first solo exhibition ever at the gallery titled “the wall.” Many of the pieces, both large and small, are familiar Bronx scenes — popping with boldness and color. Some play off a recurring motif of spurting fire-hydrants in various dimensions.
(February 5, 2017) Finished off the weekend attending the 18th Annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival. The experience was comfortable and visually regenerative as wave after wave of celebration made its way through of the streets of NYC’s Chinatown. This is an annual celebration that should experienced by every New Yorker, at least once.
(February 4, 2017) Lion dance performers prowled the streets of Chinatown, searching for New Year hong paos while followed by the sound of traditional drums, gongs and cymbals. ‘Year of the Rooster’ celebrations in New York City continued, winding their way through side-streets, local businesses and restaurants.
