Latin music great Eddie Palmieri revisits "Harlem River Drive" @ Richard Rogers Ampitheatre(May  21, 2016) Latin music great Eddie Palmieri gave a special performance, at the Richard Rogers Ampitheatre in Marcus Garvey Park (Harlem). Along with his 18-member band, “The Sun of Latin Music” revisted his milepost album “Harlem River Drive” before a capacity crowd, on the 45th Anniversary of its release.

For the 79 year-old Grammy Award-winning pianist, bandleader, musician and composer, the “Harlem River Drive” project marked a pivotal point in the Palmieri legacy where Latin, soul, funk and jazz topped with socially conscious tales of the inner city converged and lent another voice against increasing social and economic issues.

DJ Bobbito García was the opener for the concert, spinning jams echoing the spirit of the times. Bobbito who co-directed “Doin’ it in the Park: Pickup Basketball, New York” (2013) with Kevin Couliau, previously collaborated with Eddie Palmieri to get three songs recorded for their documentary’s soundtrack.

“Eddie Palmieri’s Harlem River Drive Revisited” was presented by Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York 2016. For more info about the festival, goto: http://nyc.redbullmusicacademy.com/events.
