El Barrio Latin Jazz Festival

Tito Puente Jr. & Friends @ El Barrio Latin Jazz Festival (MGP)

(September 16, 2016) The legacy of celebrated composer, musician and orchestra leader Ernesto Antonio “Tito” Puente echoed throughout Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park, as the main stage event for the 1st Annual El Barrio Latin Jazz Festival.

Bringing to life a selection of the late percussionist’s classic compositions was none other than his own son, timbalero Tito Puente Jr. He was accompanied by Willie Rodriguez (piano), Waldo Chavez (bass), Chino Ramos (congas), Junior Valdes (bongoes), Pete Miranda (baritone sax), Javier Olivencia (tenor sax & flute), Steven Oquendo (trumpet), and Tokunori “Kaji” Kajiwara (trombone).

The 1st Annual El Barrio Latin Jazz Festival is a ten-day celebration (September 15 – 25, 2016) happening at various venues throughout East and Central Harlem, NYC. For more info, goto: http://www.elbarriolatinjazzfestival.com/.
