La India Enchants @ "The Kingdom of India" - Lehman Center for the Performing Arts

(October 15, 2016) “La Princesa de la Salsa” delivered a stunning performance to a packed audience at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. Linda Viera Caballero, “La India” as she is known world-wide, gave her emotional return to The Bronx a celebratory tone of remembrance to the great influences in her singing career, now spanning three decades.

The concert titled “The Kingdom of India” was led off with a special appearance by ace vocalist Ray De La Paz. Ray has enjoyed a long distinguished career, having teamed up with many of the legends and heavies of salsa music, like Louie Ramirez, Ray Barretto, and The Spanish Harlem Orchestra.

The concert came to a triumphant climax when “The Sun of Latin Music” Eddie Palmieri joined La India on-stage. Palmieri produced the songstress’ first Spanish-language salsa album titled “Llego la India via Eddie Palmieri,” acclaimed as one of the best salsa albums for 1992. The collaboration, subsequently, blew open the gates to a long, fruitful career that firmed her identity as “La India” world-wide.

Musical director and pianist for both Ray De La Paz and La India was the prolific composer and multi-Grammy nominee Isidro Infante.

“The Kingdom of India” was a production of Lehman Center for the Performing Arts and Leo Tizol.
