(October 15, 2016) “La Princesa de la Salsa” delivered a stunning performance to a packed audience at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. Linda Viera Caballero, “La India” as she is known world-wide, gave her emotional return to The Bronx a celebratory tone of remembrance to the great influences in her singing career, now spanning three decades.
(October 8, 2016) The final concert for BomPlenazo 2016 brought to the Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture mainstage a celebrated collaboration led by the recognized elder of the New York City bomba and plena tradition, Juan “Juango” Gutiérrez. The BomPlenazo Artists Collective returned to the biennial themed “Entre Generaciones” to deliver a dynamic repertoire of traditional and original music compositions.
(September 17, 2016) “La Casa de la Salsa” Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is back with its 36th Season calendar. Headlining the center’s premier event was Eddie Palmieri & Friends and Del Caribe Latin Jazz All-Stars.
(September 16, 2016) The legacy of celebrated composer, musician and orchestra leader Ernesto Antonio “Tito” Puente echoed throughout Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park, as the main stage event for the 1st Annual El Barrio Latin Jazz Festival.
(July 13, 2016) Joe Bataan was back in The Bronx, as part of SummerStage 2016 @ St. Mary’s Park series. The concert was opened by the Latin-Soul group from Paris “SETENTA” who then became the backup band for Bataan. Accompanying Bataan with background vocals was his wife Yvonne.
(May 21, 2016) Latin music great Eddie Palmieri gave a special performance, at the Richard Rogers Ampitheatre in Marcus Garvey Park (Harlem). Along with his 18-member band, “The Sun of Latin Music” revisted his milepost album “Harlem River Drive” before a capacity crowd, on the 45th Anniversary of its release.
(May 15, 2016) The 45th Annual Bronx Week grand finale proved to be a challenge for the thousands that came out and endured the weather. The 11-day celebration of the borough came to its climax with a parade, food & arts festival and music concert on Mosholu Parkway.
(May 7, 2016) “La Casa de La Salsa” Lehman Center for the Performing Arts continued its 36th Anniversary season with yet another “sold-out” concert. “El León De La Salsa” Oscar D’León returned to the Bronx to deliver a dazzling performance of his superstar Venezuelan swing.
(April 16, 2016) The outstanding Grupo Niche from Colombia kicked off its 35th Anniversary celebration at “La Casa de la Salsa” — Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. The tight, well-polished 10-piece band with its three front men gave the packed house two sets of driving swing and up-beat romance.
(March 19, 2016) Two legitimate heavies of classic Salsa music performed to a capacity audience at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. Singers Ismael Miranda and Andy Montañez brought swing to The Bronx venue with their celebrated vocal instruments.
