(July 16, 2016) A sudden rainfall could not cool down the heat at the 12th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. Main Stage headliners included none other than NAS (Nasir Jones ) with special guests The Soul Rebels, Bed-Stuy’s own Fabolous, Brooklynite activist MC Talib Kweli and one of Hip-Hop’s hottest wordsmiths Rapsody. The official house spinner was DJ Rob Swift, with hosts Uncle Ralph McDaniels and Torae at the helm.
(July 14, 2016) The 2016 Crotona Park Jams are officially underway. After cancellation of Week 1, due to weather, Week 2 withstood the hour-long deluge of rain and thunder to emerge unscathed. Making the event happen were DJs Chuck City, Rockin’ Rob and GrandWizzard Theodore. As the word got out that the jam was still on, people promptly began to show up.
(June 30, 2016) The Spanish Harlem Hop 2016 finale proved to be the high point of the Tools of War True School NYC Summer Park Jam Series, so far. DJs Eclipse, Evil Dee, Bobby Morales, and Amore brought the Poor Richard’s Playground crowd to the roots with their beats. An exciting turnout of bboys and bgirls opened up two cyphers while young-lings got first-hand coaching by members of The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory.
(June 23, 2016) Week Four of Spanish Harlem Hop 2016 continued its magical stay of the weather to echo the spins of DJs Lean Rock, Butta L, Tony Touch, and PopMaster Fabel throughout Poor Richard’s Playground.
(June 9, 2016) Week Two of Spanish Harlem Hop 2016 brought in another level of busy, as a horde of bboys and bgirls jumped into the mix with the outstanding debuts of DJ Perly, and DeejaySoul (who is also an official photographer for the jams). Also, returning for the new season: the undeniable Mista Sinista (causing a ruckus galore); and “Mr. Dirty” himself, DJ Sucio Smash.
(June 2, 2016) The Tools of War True School NYC Summer Park Jam Series has returned for another season. During the month of June, “Spanish Harlem Hop 2016” will be bringing it to Poor Richard’s Playground @ East 109th & 3rd Ave in East Harlem (El Barrio).
(December 13, 2015) Road trip to Queens, the resting place of the aerosol art temple 5Pointz. Tats Cru members Nicer & Bio did some restoration work and additional detailing to their pieces at a nearby Long Island City location where the spirit of 5Pointz has been revisited.

(July 11, 2015) The 11th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival featuring headliners Lion Babe, Mobb Deep, Freeway, and Common will not be long remembered. Joining the list of stage performances were the rambunctious PitchBlak Brass Band, John Robinson, MC Stro, Charles Hamilton, Skyzoo, Large Professor, (a few others) and turntablists Rob Swift and Mista Sinista (X-Ecutioners). MC Torae and Ralph McDaniels juggled the hosting and introductions.
