(September 19, 2015) Lehman Center for the Performing Arts kicked off their 35th Season with A “Tribute to the Big Bands.” Headlining the Mambo Era spectacular were the Machito Orchestra under the direction of Machito’s son Mario Grillo, and the Mambo Legends Orchestra led by John “Dandy” Rodriguez, Musical Director Jose Madera and Mitch Frohman.
(December 14, 2014) Lehman Center for the Performing Arts held it 10th Annual Parranda Navideña featuring La música tradicional de Puerto Rico. The smash seasonal holiday showcase included performances by Lily y su Gran Trio, Odilio Gonzalez “El Jibarito de Lares,” José Miguel Class “El Gallito de Manatí,” 5 en Plena, Estampas, and Conjunto Ritmo Tropical, direct from the island of Puerto Rico.
(May 10, 2014) Lehman Center for the Performing Arts presented an evening with the brilliant song writer, guitarist and singer José Feliciano. The veteran artist was delightful and entertaining with his well-balanced repertoire of new and classic tunes. He was accompanied by a five-member band that included bass guitar, percussions, drums, and keyboards.
(March 1, 2014) Fever Records owner Sal Abbatiello packed the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts with his latest installation of “Forever Freestyle.” The concert featured performances by Sammy Zone, Fonda Rae, Lydia Lee Love, Nayobe, Safire, Lisa Lisa, Cynthia, Johnny O, TKA/K7, and Stevie B. Comedian Mark Viera provided the laughs with DJ Lucho, DJ 1st Class and DJ KYS providing the beats between acts.
(September 28, 2013) The Lehman Center for the Performing Arts launched its 33rd Season with the World Premiere of Sabiduria. The group is the latest jazz venture by the legendary pianist of Latin Music and NEA Jazz Master, Eddie Palmieri.
(August 17, 2013) The most recorded Salsa singer in the world celebrated a 45 year career at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. Puerto Rican salsero Ismael Miranda, one of the few surviving members of the Fania All-Stars, was greeted by a packed house of fans and peers who came to honor this mile-stone.
(June 8, 2013) Salsa icon Willie Colón performed at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, the evening before the National Puerto Rican Day Parade. The turn-out was exceptional, considering Bronxites had become accustomed to celebrating with El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.
